Natives

There were a lot of events regarding the native people of Canada during the 1850’s but most of the books I read, referred to the Northwest Coast natives of British Columbia. There were many interactions between native and non-native people at this time, none of which had anything to do with the Confederation of Canada during the 1870’s. The needs and concerns of the native peoples didn’t have a great impact on the decisions made by the French and British at this time in Eastern Canada as it mainly focused on the French and British culture conflicts. Most of what was described was the founding of gold in B.C. and the various raids among the coastal groups.
